Background
Tony was on the waiting list for a total knee replacement in his home country of Sweden. He had been having problems with mobility for some years, so was scheduled for surgery. Yet a fall was to mean that he needed emergency hip replacement, and that meant his proposed knee replacement was postponed. During the recovery time from his hip operation, his knee deteriorated even more.

The operation went smoothly and in the end I spent 4 nights at HC Hospital. I found the hospital and team to be fantastic!
Fortunately, I was virtually without pain following the operation. The care and service was excellent. A very pleasant surprise was that the food was superb too. I know you don’t choose a hospital or doctor based the food, but it all helped make the experience as comfortable as possible.

I was told that I would probably stay 2 nights in hospital after the total knee replacement, but I am glad I stayed the extra nights – it was a complex operation and after 4 nights I was confident to go home to my place in Spain.
I continued to return to HC Hospital for physio. After my 6 week consultation check up with Dr Boerger I was given the green light to return to Stockholm, where I went on to have rehab about 2-3 times a week in Sweden
My right knee is now in perfect shape and very straight – I have not really had any pain after the operation. I am now back to playing golf. I stick with my exercises, and I am getting better every week.
I have returned to Spain for my 6 month check-up, and I have full mobility in the knee.
